When Ernst Loosen took over his family's vineyard on the Mosel, he had already traveled extensively to the world's most prestigious wineries. He wanted to discover the secret of truly great wines, and then make world-class wines himself. These journeys of discovery inspired Ernst to develop his own wine philosophy: great wines are the perfect expression of the soil, the climate and the grape variety.

Similar to the Dr. Loosen Winery on the Mosel, Ernst seized the opportunity to rebuild another traditional winery with prime sites. Here in the Pfalz, he saw the opportunity to produce first-class dry Rieslings and wines from various Burgundy grape varieties to complement the Rieslings from the Dr. Loosen Winery.
